Agroponiente Launches Its Summer Campaign in the Sierra with Strong Growth and Early Start

The company forecasts a 17% increase in volume marketed, reinforcing its commitment to local growers and meeting summer market demand.

Summer heat is beginning to make itself felt in the fields, but even before its arrival, Agroponiente’s centers in the Sierra were already fully operational. The summer campaign is a strategic initiative of the company, focused on five centers located in high-altitude areas, where crops reach their maximum potential during the summer months.

The centers located in Zafarraya, Jayena, Benalúa de Guadix, and Caniles (Granada), as well as Gérgal (Almería), are leading this campaign. Last year, these centers collectively exceeded 20 million kilos of marketed produce during the summer, following several consecutive seasons of growth in both volume and the incorporation of new farmers.

This upward trend continues in 2025, according to forecasts from the Technical and Field Department, which anticipates increased output across all crops. The campaign began strongly with zucchini, and the production of tomatoes (both pear and salad varieties), peppers, green beans, and cucumbers is already underway.

This focus on high-altitude centers serves a dual purpose: on one hand, to directly support local farmers who had long sought a solid, committed partner; on the other, to meet the European market’s demand for fresh products during the hottest months. Agroponiente has successfully positioned itself as a key player in addressing both needs.

Forecasts point to a 17% increase in the volume of produce marketed, consolidating a growth model based on geographic expansion and year-round production. These centers have become firmly established as essential hubs for the summer season.

Bernardo Villegas, Head of Procurement at Grupo Agroponiente, emphasized:

“The work done by our farmers and technical team has been exceptional. We’ve achieved a perfect synergy between market needs, growers’ capabilities, and company strategy. Each year, more farmers join, volumes increase, and our services improve. This project is running at full capacity and has become a fundamental pillar of our strategic roadmap.”
