The Almería-based company, honored as a leading large enterprise in corporate social responsibility, donates the financial award to the association ‘Soy Especial, ¿y qué?’ as a true reflection of its commitment to inclusion and social justice.
The Avenida Hotel Almería hosted a prestigious event last night: the 7th Corporate Social Responsibility Awards organized by the Almería Provincial Council—an event that has become a national benchmark. Among the standout honorees was Grupo Agroponiente, recipient of the award in the large enterprise category, in recognition of its firm commitment to a business model that places sustainability, ethics, and positive impact at the heart of its strategy.
The award was accepted by the company’s CEO, Imanol Almudí, who expressed his
“immense satisfaction and gratitude for this recognition, which validates years of honest and courageous commitment to a different way of doing business: more conscious, more human, and more transformative.”
The purpose of these awards is to promote environmentally respectful and socially responsible management models among companies in Almería—an objective that perfectly aligns with the foundational principles of Agroponiente’s corporate philosophy. The company is, notably, the first in Almería to obtain B Corp certification, and one of the first in Spanish agriculture, representing a clear symbol of real transformation. It proves that it is possible to evolve a traditional agri-food company into an organization aligned with the highest standards of sustainability, transparency, and purpose.
A Benchmark Business Model in European Agriculture
Agroponiente has proven that it is possible to lead in quality, innovation, and growth without abandoning its core values. The company’s B Corp certification is not just a badge of honor—it’s tangible evidence of a business model that measures success not only in economic terms, but also in social and environmental impact.
As Almudí noted:
“Our commitment to CSR is neither a trend nor a slogan—it is our essence. We truly believe that the best business results come when you care for people, the environment, and our shared future.”
Agroponiente’s approach is neither theoretical nor anecdotal. The company rigorously measures its impact through key performance indicators (KPIs), undergoes stringent external audits, and applies social and environmental criteria to its business decisions at the same level as financial ones. At Agroponiente, CSR is not a department—it’s the DNA that permeates every aspect of the organization.
From respect for farmers and care for the planet, to the health of consumers and the wellbeing of its employees, the company has built a full ecosystem in which every decision contributes to leaving a positive and lasting legacy.
Solidarity That Goes Beyond Awards
As a true expression of its people-centered mission, Agroponiente has decided to donate the full monetary value of the award to the ‘Soy Especial, ¿y qué?’ association, which is dedicated to supporting the inclusion of individuals with diverse abilities. A gesture that reflects the company’s understanding of leadership: to serve, to inspire, and to share.
During the ceremony, the President of the Almería Provincial Council, Javier Aureliano García Molina, congratulated the winning companies—including Productos Artesanales Guada, Albedo Solar, and Desert Springs—and stated:
“You are the driving force behind the growth of our region. A shining example of excellence with values such as solidarity, equality, and sustainability as your guiding principles.”
This award reaffirms Grupo Agroponiente’s status as a national benchmark in corporate sustainability—an organization that proves transformation is possible from within, with conviction, coherence, and long-term vision. A living example that, in 21st-century agriculture, sowing purpose also yields results.
