The company’s CEO, Imanol Almudí, explained the details of the new project in Adra, which will create over 300 jobs, with a daily auction and packaging warehouse.
Almudí also emphasized, “We want to be the leading horticultural company in Southern Europe” and shared figures such as the 325 million kilograms marketed this year, collaborating with over 3,800 farmers, and providing jobs to more than 2,000 employees, through an extensive infrastructure that includes 25 collection centers, five daily auctions, and seven packaging facilities.
Grupo Agroponiente has kicked off the campaign at its new center in Adra, located in the former Agrupa Adra facilities. Last night, the company held an event to thoroughly explain its project in the municipality, attended by over 200 farmers and representatives from the Adra City Council, led by Mayor Manuel Cortés.
The Mayor addressed the attendees, primarily to thank Grupo Agroponiente for the significant investment they are making in the municipality and to emphasize the importance of “a company like this expanding its presence in our town, creating a substantial number of jobs and contributing to the development of our agriculture.”
The CEO of Grupo Agroponiente provided an in-depth explanation of the company’s project for Adra, where the new center has already started conducting what is now the fifth daily product auction in the province (along with those in Polígono La Redonda and Guardias Viejas in El Ejido, Vegacañada in Almería, and Campohermoso in Níjar). The packaging warehouse will commence operations on October 1st.
In total, more than 300 jobs will be created at the Adra center, with a packaging forecast of around 40 million kilograms in this first campaign, with the goal of reaching 60 to 70 million kilograms annually within three years. A wide range of products will be processed, with peppers and cucumbers as the base.
Almudí stated, “Our project in Adra is very important for the company. In fact, Adra will chronologically be the first auction of the day, setting the pace, and it is of paramount importance. We know Adra very well and have long recognized that Adra’s farmers highly value their products and quality—they are excellent farmers.”
Additionally, Grupo Agroponiente’s CEO specified, “We are here to stay, to create stable jobs in the municipality, and to carry forward the legacy of Agrupa Adra, integrating it into Grupo Agroponiente’s ambitious project.”
Imanol Almudí explained, “We have completed three very positive years in terms of numbers, but our forecast is to increase the pace of growth. Volume is needed to serve increasingly large and demanding customers. We aspire to be the leading company in Southern Europe,” adding, “We will achieve this with a model based on conscious, sensible agriculture—efficient, striving to be sustainable, and leaving a positive impact on the environment.”
Grupo Agroponiente has reached a milestone of 325 million kilograms marketed in the last campaign; with five daily auctions, seven packaging centers, 25 collection centers, collaborating with over 3,800 growers, and providing jobs for more than 2,000 employees.
