Grupo Agroponiente Contributes Once Again to the 11th Edition of the Almería City Council’s Fruit, Vegetable, and Fish Consumption Plan for Children

The company took part in the selection of the drawing contest winners, presented awards to their chosen participants, and provided fresh products to the 900 students involved.

For yet another year—just as it has since the initiative began—Grupo Agroponiente has participated in the main event of the 11th Children’s Fruit, Vegetable, and Fish Consumption Plan, organized by the Department of Agriculture, Water and Green Areas of Almería City Council. The event gathered 900 schoolchildren from fifth and sixth grade classes in the capital, with the aim of raising awareness about the importance of a healthy diet, rich in fruits and vegetables.

As in previous editions, Grupo Agroponiente was actively involved in all aspects of the event. The company served as a jury member in the healthy eating-themed drawing competition, awarded prizes to the selected students, and took part in the tasting session of fresh products that marked the end of the day—donating produce for the children to take home and share with their families.

The event, held at the Maestro Padilla Auditorium, included participation from dozens of local schools and has now become a staple on the city’s educational calendar. Each year, more companies join the initiative, recognizing the importance of educating young people on the benefits of maintaining a healthy diet that includes fruits, vegetables, and fish.

Almería’s City Councilor, Juan José Segura, emphasized:“There is no better way to teach our children about the benefits of the products grown and harvested from our land and sea than through this celebration of healthy eating.”
He also visited the Grupo Agroponiente booth in the venue’s lobby, which was represented by Luis Miguel Sances, from the company’s Marketing Department.

The event concluded with a healthy breakfast in which the students were able to sample local products provided by collaborating companies. These included:

    • Over 500 liters of gazpacho

    • More than one ton of raf and cherry tomatoes

    • Over 3,000 units of cucumbers and zucchini

    • More than 1,000 servings of watermelon

    • Around 15 kilograms of shrimp

    • And 1,000 tomato-based toasts
