Grupo Agroponiente celebrates the results of the 23/24 campaign with its employees and the stellar participation of Mario Alonso Puig.

The doctor, surgeon, lecturer and writer addressed more than 200 business professionals, giving them a tour of different key concepts for the world of people, companies and the human brain today.

Grupo Agroponiente has experienced a very special day today, a day with which the professional staff is celebrating the magnificent results of the last two years and the sensational prospects for the future in the short and medium term. The event was held at the Cervantes Theatre and the highlight was the conference given to the professionals of the Agroponiente Group by the doctor, surgeon, lecturer and writer, Mario Alonso Puig, a true world reference in these fields.

The company’s CEO, Imanol Almudí, addressed the employees presenting the company’s excellent results, the forecast for the coming year and to welcome Mario Alonso Puig. ‘Today is a very important day for the company, not only because we are here to feel very proud of what we have done so far, but also to announce what is to come, and to share this very special event with a speaker who is an international benchmark, Mario Alonso Puig, who is sure to bring meaning to what we are doing with his talk ‘Where the mind and the heart should be’. All in all, a great moment for those of us who form part of the Agroponiente Project’.

Alonso Puig’s intervention offered a masterly talk, a conference of the highest level of those that can be heard today, under the title ‘Where the heart and the head need to be’, centring its content around this starting point, but displaying an ‘encyclopaedic knowledge’ that he has poured into the most different fields and spheres of life.

In terms of business, Alonso Puig stated that ‘a company that lasts is a company that never changes its principles and values. If you do not adjust yourself to doing the right thing, to doing what your principles and values dictate, you may be successful in the short term, but you will not last. You have to adapt to new things, to innovations, but without changing your principles and values’.

He also addressed the company’s professionals, stating that ‘you have, as an organisation, a series of characteristics: generosity, pride in belonging, transparency, coherence, respect, teamwork are your values. Some people say they work in a team, but they don’t work in a group. In the group, the law of compliance works: I comply and I lie. In the team there is another dynamic, you help each other, you fall down and someone always wants to pick you up, you make a mistake and you don’t cut your head off’.

.In addition, Alonso Puig paraded different characters on the theatre stage, commenting on some of his most famous quotes, such as Eric Hoffer’s assertion that ‘in times of change, those who are open to learning will own the future, while those who think they know everything will be equipped for a world that no longer exists’, to which he added different views on the importance of the ability to adapt and the ability to get out of ‘the comfort zone’.

And above all he spoke of ‘passion’, ‘something very important, which shows that fear is useless. There are many examples of this’, of which he cited several examples, such as the construction of Las Vegas or the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, today considered the best hospital in the world, in places where nobody believed that such projects could succeed, adding that ’of course it is difficult to build a hospital in Rochester, but that does not mean that it cannot be done. Alva Edisson said that people who say something can’t be done should not stand in the way of those who are doing it.

And applied to the fruit and vegetable business and the Agroponiente Group, he concluded that ‘you have a great opportunity, because bringing quality products, which the digestive tract needs and which are necessary for the brain to function well, is a great opportunity. If someone offers you a great opportunity and you are not sure if you can do it, despite the fact that nothing is certain, say yes, have the courage, the courage and the guts to say yes, because it is an extraordinary opportunity, opportunities are few and far between. And today many people eat better than you and, if that is so, they are people who have better health thanks to you’, because as the Nobel Prize winner RabindranathTagore said, “it is better to die without having reached a star, than to live having no star to reach”.
