The Agroponiente Group increases its presence in its centres in the Sierra with a notable growth in the Summer Campaign.

The centres of Zafarraya, Jayena, Benalúa de Guadix and Caniles in Granada, and Gérgal in Almería, exceed every year their production and service during the summer months, reaching 20 million kilos.

The Agroponiente Group has closed its summer campaign in the five collection centres it has in the mountains with notable growth and commitment from its farmers.

For years, the company has maintained a work philosophy in its logistics centres in the highlands and inland, which allows it to offer a service to the farmers in these production areas, while at the same time making a decisive contribution to maintaining the marketing service and customer loyalty at this time of the year.

In this way, this summer, the Agroponiente Group has maintained activity in all its logistics centres, especially those located in the sierra area, specifically in Zafarraya, Jayena, Benalúa de Guadix and Canlines in Granada, and the centre in Gérgal in Almería, where all the products in its range have been marketed: tomato, courgette, pepper, bean, cucumber and aubergine.

In total, the volume marketed between these five centres has exceeded 20 million kilos, representing a great increase compared to the previous season in the same areas. The most significant figure in terms of growth was recorded in the Zafarraya centre.

By product, the greatest increase has been in tomato, followed by cucumber, which has grown especially in the centre of Jayena. Finally, pepper has been the most outstanding product in terms of percentage growth, reaching a particularly notable volume in Zafarraya. By centres, Benalúa de Guadix has been the centre with the highest volume growth this summer, followed by Zafarraya.

Also significant is the growth in the number of growers, which has increased compared to the previous year. The overall number of growers who entrusted their production to the Agroponiente Group this summer, adding the five centres in the mountains, was more than 500, a sign of the good work of the company’s field and sales teams.

For the CEO of the Agroponiente Group, Imanol Almudí, ‘the work carried out in the centres in the mountains is very important for us. Our service vocation for growers and customers must be reflected throughout the year and in all production areas. These volumes are important when it comes to maintaining our service 365 days a year, both for the farmers who sow in the highland outdoor areas and for the clients and markets that demand quality produce during the summer. In the end, our aim is to provide the best service at all times, every day of the year, and according to the criteria demanded by our clients. An objective that has been achieved and which we now have to maintain, improve and increase’.
