Andrés Vega joins Grupo Agroponiente as HR Director to boost talent strategy and international growth

The company strengthens its Executive Committee with a high-profile HR expert, reinforcing its commitment to professionalisation and talent development.

Grupo Agroponiente has announced the appointment of Andrés Vega as the company’s new Human Resources Director, in a move that reflects its strategic focus on building an organisational structure that supports international growth and internal talent development.

With over 35 years of experience in leading agro-food and retail corporations such as CAPSA FOOD (Central Lechera Asturiana) and Ahold Supermarkets (Dinosol, Superdiplo), Vega will report directly to CEO Imanol Almudí, becoming a member of the Executive Committee.

“Andrés’ arrival is a key lever for our leadership team. His expertise brings the strategic vision in HR that we need to drive our growth plan – a plan that is, at its core, people-driven,” said Almudí.

Talent and people as strategic pillars

Vega also brings extensive knowledge of labour relations, having served as a senior official at the Ministry of Labour, and as a member of the CEOE Social Dialogue Commission and the Advisory Council of the Spanish Supermarkets Association.

His role will be instrumental in Agroponiente’s ambition to become a benchmark European agri-food operator, with a focus on attracting, developing and retaining top talent across the value chain.

“In such a dynamic sector, investing in professional development and talent attraction is what sets us apart and leads us to excellence,” Almudí added.

Strengthening leadership for European expansion

With this appointment, Grupo Agroponiente consolidates a top-tier leadership team, aligned with the standards of major European corporations and fully committed to building a people-first, resilient, and future-ready organisation.
